Acclaimed songwriter Tommy Rice has been honored with the prestigious Songwriter of the Year award at the 2024 International Singer-Songwriter Association (ISSA) Awards. The award ceremony took place on Saturday, August 24, 2024, recognizing Rice’s exceptional talent, dedication, and contribution to the world of music.
Tommy Rice’s journey as a songwriter began after the loss of his beloved wife, Deborah, to an aggressive form of brain cancer. To cope with his grief, Rice turned to songwriting, and what began as a therapeutic outlet quickly evolved into a celebrated career. In just over three years, Rice has written more than 200 songs, with over 100 recorded and 12 reaching number one on various music charts.
Rice’s music has resonated with audiences worldwide, earning him numerous accolades. In 2021, he was nominated for Crossover Artist of the Year. The following year, he won NMA Country New Group of the Year and IMN Inspirational Song of the Year. In 2023, Rice was nominated for Country Breakthrough Artist of the Year and won IMN Inspirational Song of the Year. Already in 2024, Rice has won ISSA & IMN Songwriter of the Year and NMA AC Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Elite Music Awards Single of the Year for 2 songs. Rice was also nominated for NMA AC Crossover Artist/Band of the Year, Josie Awards Songwriter of the Year and Video of the Year and ISSA Music Video of the Year Finalist. He has also had five number one songs with the IMN Network and has been a featured artist on Museboat Live Radio.
Rice’s success extends beyond these notable achievements. His song “Eternal Promise of Love” charted at number seven in 2022 out of over 30,000 entries on Museboat Live Radio, while “There is No Love Like Our Love” reached number two in 2023 out of over 50,000 entries. His music continues to touch hearts globally, with his songs being played in England, Norway, Finland, Germany, Russia, China, and many other countries.
In 2023 alone, Tommy Rice’s music garnered nearly 10 million views on YouTube. His song “Can I Ever Love Again” landed in the Top 10 of the World Songwriting Awards for the Best Modern Country Song category, spanning over 129 countries. Recently, Rice was also inducted into Museboat’s Hall of Alltimers, an honor reserved for the best and most listened-to songs on the Museboat Live Channel.
In addition to his latest accolade, Rice was honored in 2023 to become a member of the Country Music Association (CMA), the International Singer-Songwriter Association (ISSA), and American Songwriter.
