Ready. Set. Library! The Jackson Hinds Library System Celebrates National Library Week

National Library Week (April 7-13) is a time to celebrate and appreciate our libraries, library workers, and promote library resources and services. National Library Week is celebrated all over the country and in accordance with the proclamation by the Governor of the State of Mississippi. The Jackson Hinds Library System is excited to participate in this weeklong nationwide event with the community of Jackson and Hinds County. This year’s theme in 2024 is “Ready. Set. Library!” which gives us the green light to explore all our local libraries have to offer, such as: free digital resources, reading the latest bestsellers, learning new skills, attending a program, and connecting with others.

During National Library Week, we will host various programs and activities for patrons of all ages. From story time sessions for children to book discussions for adults, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. We want to encourage the community to give themselves the green light to take full advantage of what is new at the library from all roads of life. See our offerings at jhlibrary.org.

We will celebrate our hardworking library staff for National Library Workers Day on April 9, 2024. The celebration is about our staff who hold down the front lines of public service for everyday people in Hinds County. We will finish our month-long celebration at our Spring Staff Development Day that will be hosted at the Mississippi e-Center on April 29, 2024, at Jackson State University.
