Larry Cantrell serves as president of the board of directors for the Tammy Wynette Legacy Center in Tremont, the hometown of the “First Lady of Country Music.” The center, which opened in 2015, began gaining momentum after Larry joined in 2019. Under his leadership, the center attracted more than 3,500 visitors in its first year, drawing tourists from 44 states and 11 countries.

Built on strong community support, the center relies on volunteers and showcases Wynette’s heritage and memorabilia, including the gates from her Nashville estate. A passionate advocate for the arts and Mississippi, Larry works to support local talent of all ages with live music every weekend. He also is focused on enhancing the center’s theater, which opened in May 2024. The 400-seat venue hosted a performance by Wynette’s daughter, Georgette Jones, during its grand opening.

Looking to the future, Larry plans to host concerts and events at the venue. The center also recently marked the opening of its new restaurant, expanding its community offerings. “The Legacy Center team, including supporters and volunteers, is working hard to make the theater one of the premier musical event centers and tourist attractions in North Mississippi,” Larry said.

We appreciate Larry and everyone at the Tammy Wynette Legacy Center for their dedication to preserving and celebrating Mississippi’s rich musical heritage.
