The Stone County Community Fund (SCCF), an affiliate of the Gulf Coast Community Foundation (GCCF), is bringing Mardi Gras magic to Wiggins with the inaugural Stone County Mardi Gras Ball. This highly anticipated fundraiser will take place on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at The Venue at Pine Burr, located at 100 Pine Burr Drive. Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m.
The event marks the revival of a beloved community tradition that dates back to 1974. Attendees will enjoy an evening of celebration featuring delicious food from Staigle’s Steakhouse, live entertainment, dancing, and the grand reveal of the Krewe of Prometheus royal court. The ball also honors the rich history of Mardi Gras balls at Pine Burr, uniting the community to relive cherished memories while creating new ones.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the SCCF, supporting its mission to enhance the quality of life in Stone County. This celebration coincides with the launch of SCCF’s first grant cycle, furthering the foundation’s goal of addressing the county’s most pressing needs.
“This event is a wonderful way to bring our community together, honor our shared traditions, and support the important work of the Stone County Community Fund,” said SCCF representatives.
The SCCF, established as the first affiliate of the GCCF, aims to raise $200,000 for its endowment fund by 2027. The Gulf Coast Community Foundation will match 50 percent of donations up to $100,000. Tax-deductible contributions can be made online at mygccf.com/OJIy.
Since 1989, the Gulf Coast Community Foundation has been a pillar of support for South Mississippi, addressing the region’s evolving needs through philanthropy and strategic grantmaking. The foundation has played a vital role in disaster recovery, education, and child welfare initiatives.
