Weathersby (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the Mississippi House of Representatives to represent District 62. He won in the general election on November 5, 2019.

A graduate of Florence High School, Weathersby received a basketball scholarship to Hinds Community College. While there, he earned All-State recognition as a basketball player. He was inducted into the Hinds Sports Hall of Fame and was named 2009 Alumnus of the Year.
