Spartan Composites, a leading manufacturer of advanced composite access mats, is expanding to Saltillo with a $49 million corporate investment that will create 45 new jobs in Lee County.

The company specializes in high-performance composite matting systems used across infrastructure, oil and gas, defense, and utility sectors. Its products are designed to deliver durability, mobility and environmental protection in demanding environments, serving customers across North America and international markets.

The new Lee County facility will play a strategic role in Spartan Composites’ long-term growth. The Saltillo location will support the company’s expanding customer base, diversify production capacity and strengthen supply chain resiliency. Establishing operations in Mississippi also positions the company to broaden its reach across the Southeast and enhance distribution capabilities nationwide and globally.

Gov. Tate Reeves called the project another milestone for the state’s advanced manufacturing sector.

“Spartan Composites’ $49 million investment is another great advanced manufacturing win for our state,” Reeves said. “And it’s just the latest example of Mississippi attracting the jobs of the next 50 years. Mississippi has unprecedented momentum and we continue to strengthen our state’s manufacturing base. The products we manufacture here have a global reach. It’s incredible to see the special things happening in Mississippi.”

The Mississippi Development Authority is supporting the project through assistance for road improvements and through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive, or MFLEX, program. Lee County and the Tennessee Valley Authority are also providing support.

Spartan Composites President Jeff Juergens said the Saltillo expansion marks a defining chapter for the company’s future.

“We are pleased to expand our manufacturing operations to the Saltillo, Mississippi, area,” Juergens said. “This development represents our future worldwide manufacturing center and will help establish Spartan Composites as the leading composite mat manufacturer. We are grateful to the state of Mississippi, Lee County and the city of Saltillo for their support and look forward to a prosperous future together.”

Local leaders say the investment will further solidify Lee County’s reputation as a hub for advanced manufacturing.

“We are excited and grateful that Spartan Composites has selected Lee County to expand its United States footprint,” said Lee County Board of Supervisors President Barry Parker. “This investment and job creation will further diversify our advanced manufacturing base and strengthen our local economy.”

Spartan Composites expects to begin operations in September 2027 and plans to fill all 45 positions by December 2027.
