Since its founding in 1950, this family-owned business has grown from a single store in Jackson to a thriving nine-location chain, serving communities across Jackson, Pearl, Clinton, Byram, Richland/Florence, Reservoir, Madison, and Northeast Jackson. A Rich History Rooted in Community
Revell Ace Hardware was established in 1950 by the Revell family at the Cook Center in Jackson, Mississippi, with a commitment to exceptional customer service and quality products. In 1957, Jack Rooks, alongside his wife Bettie, purchased a one-third stake in the business, forging a lasting partnership with founder Joe Revell. Jack, Bettie, and their seven children worked tirelessly in the store, embedding a family-oriented ethos into its operations. By 1974, Jack acquired full ownership, retaining the Revell name out of respect for its legacy and the trust it had earned in the community. Today, three of Jack and Bettie’s children—Joe, Dunaway, and Tim Rooks—own and operate the business, with the third generation, including Operations Manager Paxton Rooks, actively involved. From its humble beginnings with two employees, Revell Ace Hardware now employs 160 dedicated team members, all committed to the founding principle of top-notch customer service.

The Rooks family has been the heart of Revell Ace Hardware for nearly seven decades. Joe, Dunaway, and Tim Rooks grew up working in the store from their teenage years, learning the value of hard work and community connection. Their leadership has driven the company’s expansion while maintaining its focus on personalized service. Lisa Rooks, Joe’s wife, has been instrumental in shaping the Revell @ Home Department, a specialty kitchen shop inspired by her passion for Southern cooking and hospitality. Drawing from her experience at Williams Sonoma, Lisa introduced a curated selection of kitchen products and hosts weekly cooking demonstrations, fostering a “softer side of hardware” that resonates with customers. The Rooks family’s hands-on approach and dedication to innovation have solidified Revell Ace Hardware’s reputation as a trusted leader in the industry.
