22 pounds of Fentanyl

On Friday May 10th, 2024, at approximately 2:10 p.m. Rankin County Criminal Interdiction Deputy Johnson conducted a traffic stop on a Ford Truck on Interstate 20 for a traffic violation. During the stop Deputy Johnson developed probable cause that the suspect may be involved in drug trafficking. Deputy Shack and his K9 partner “Voodoo” along with other members of the Criminal Interdiction Team responded to the location. A K-9 search of the vehicle received a positive alert by “Voodoo”.

A search of the vehicle revealed two non-factory false compartments in the vehicle. Approximately 22 pounds of the deadly drug fentanyl was located inside the compartments.

The driver of the vehicle, Arturo GONSEN-MIRANDA, was placed under arrest for aggravated trafficking of a Controlled Substance and transported to the Rankin County Jail.

District Attorney John “Bubba” Bramlett will bring the suspect before Rankin County Court Judge David Morrow for an initial appearance. No Bond has been set at this time.

This investigation continues.
