SpringFest, sponsored by the Student Government Association at Delta State University, will bring music, energy and Okra-fied spirit to campus on Thursday, March 19, highlighted by a live concert from hip hop artist Waka Flocka Flame at Sillers Coliseum.
Waka Flocka Flame will take the stage at 9:00 p.m. Known for explosive live performances and crowd anthems, he rose to national prominence with major hits including the platinum single “No Hands,” one of the defining hip hop tracks of the early 2010s. The concert is open to the public and is expected to draw fans from across the Mississippi Delta and surrounding region.
The concert caps an evening that begins at 4:00 p.m. with SpringFest in the Sillers Coliseum front parking lot. Designed for current Delta State students, SpringFest features music, food and activities that set the tone for the weekend and create an atmosphere of celebration across campus.
At 5:00 p.m., the NPHC Yard Show will bring tradition and performance to the forefront as members of Delta State’s National Pan-Hellenic Council organizations showcase step routines and coordinated performances. The Yard Show is a new signature element of Go Green Weekend, highlighting culture, unity and student engagement.
“SpringFest represents the energy, creativity and leadership of our students,” said Dr. Eddie Lovin, Vice President for Student Affairs at Delta State University. “Our Student Government Association has done an outstanding job leading the effort to bring this event to life, creating an experience that celebrates DSU pride while welcoming the broader Delta community and potential new students to our campus. Opportunities like this strengthen the sense of connection that makes Delta State such a special place.”
SpringFest, the Yard Show and Thursday night’s concert serve as the official kickoff to the Go Green Weekend celebration, which includes a full slate of athletic competitions, alumni events and campus activities throughout March 19 through 22.
