JACKSON – St. Dominic’s and Stewpot Community Services celebrated the reopening of the St. Dominic Community Health Clinic on Nov. 9.
The clinic reopened on Nov. 13 after being forced to close due to water damage after a flood last year. The clinic, which was established in 1966, provides free health care services to Jackson’s medically underserved.
Rev. Jill Barnes Buckley, executive director of Stewpot Community Services, highlighted the clinic’s crucial role in bridging health care gaps.
“Their absence has only highlighted the critical gaps that they are closing for people who need access to care,” said Buckley. “Truly, the St. Dominic Community Health Clinic is making a difference in the lives of those who need help and hope.”
Kristin Wolkart, interim market president of St. Dominic Hospital, emphasized its significance in fulfilling its mission to provide healing and support.
“The St. Dominic Community Health Clinic is an important aspect of how we live our mission to be a healing and spiritual presence for those most in need, and we look forward to welcoming both familiar and new faces back to the clinic in the coming days,” Wolkart said.
Patients are welcome without appointments. The clinic offers routine checkups, acute illness treatment, diagnostics, referrals and educational programs for all ages.
