NPL Construction, a utility and energy infrastructure services company, is expanding its operations to Greenwood with a project that will bring more than $1.9 million in investment and create over 40 new jobs in Leflore County.

The company will lease a 70,000-square-foot facility in Greenwood to support fabrication and manufacturing operations focused primarily on utility-related products. NPL Construction provides infrastructure solutions to utility and energy clients, specializing in natural gas distribution and pipeline transmission systems. Its fabrication facilities assemble components such as piping, compressor stations, vaults, skids and other related infrastructure.

Gov. Tate Reeves said the project reflects Mississippi’s continued success in attracting investments that strengthen critical infrastructure while creating jobs for residents.

“Mississippi continues to win investments that are building the future of our energy and utility infrastructure,” Reeves said. “Companies like NPL Construction are choosing our state because we offer the workforce, location and business environment they need to succeed. This investment brings quality jobs to Leflore County and strengthens communities across Mississippi.”

The Mississippi Development Authority is supporting the project through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive, or MFLEX, program. The city of Greenwood and Leflore County also are assisting with the expansion effort.

Mississippi Development Authority Executive Director Bill Cork said the state’s business climate continues to attract companies from a variety of industries.

“Mississippi has welcomed billions in new investment since 2020, and it’s coming from companies across diverse industries that are ready to move,” Cork said. “Here, they can put capital—and Mississippians—to work in record time. That momentum spans the entire state, and NPL Construction is part of that continued progress in Greenwood.”

Company officials said the new facility will help NPL Construction expand its customer base and increase production capacity while creating well-paying jobs in the region.

“This state-of-the-art fabrication facility will create well-paying jobs while allowing us to serve more customers and more industries as part of our continued growth,” said Van “Rabbit” Ladnier, NPL vice president of pipeline services. “We are grateful for the partnership and support of the economic development agencies, area leaders and community stakeholders who have helped make our expansion into Greenwood, Mississippi, possible. Greenwood offers a strong workforce, a strategic location and a business environment that supports long-term success.”

Local economic development leaders praised the announcement as another sign of growth and opportunity for the Greenwood area.

“We are thrilled to welcome NPL Construction to Greenwood,” said Thomas Gregory, executive director of the Greenwood-Leflore-Carroll Economic Development Foundation. “This investment is a testament to the strength of our workforce and the collaborative spirit of our local, county and state partners who worked together to make it happen. Projects like this one reinforce that Greenwood is a community where businesses can thrive, and we look forward to a long and successful partnership with NPL Construction.”

NPL Construction is part of Centuri Group, Inc., a North American infrastructure services company headquartered in Phoenix. The company has provided utility and energy infrastructure solutions for more than 115 years across North America.

Officials said the Greenwood facility is expected to strengthen the company’s ability to serve utility and energy customers throughout the region while contributing to economic growth in Leflore County.
