Imagine Learning, the largest provider of digital curriculum solutions in the U.S, announced today that Northwest Middle School of Rankin County School District earned the title of 2024 Imagine Learning Mississippi Math Cup Champion. Students competed against schools from across the state, completing Imagine Math digital lessons in a competition that lasted the 2023–2024 school year to be named the contest winner. A ceremony was held on April 18 at Northwest Middle School where students were presented with the Mississippi Math Cup trophy and top class and student efforts recognized.

At a time when student math skills are at an all-time low nationwide, finding ways to engage students in math education is compelling. Motivational games and contests have been shown to engage students in their learning, and game-based learning can increase student motivation and engagement and lead to higher test scores.
Throughout the contest, students from across Mississippi competed for 217 days, completed 520,419 digital math lessons, and solved 15 million complex math problems. I.T. Montgomery Elementary School of North Bolivar Consolidated School District took home the second-place prize and Brooks Elementary of North Bolivar Consolidated School District came in third.
