The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) Mississippi Museum of Natural Science (MMNS) is turning up the heat with the launch of its newest event, CrawFest, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from Noon to 5 p.m. at the museum. “From the burrow to the boil,” CrawFest invites guests of all ages to dive into the world of Mississippi crawfish through food, music, science, and hands-on fun. This fresh, family-friendly event puts the spotlight on one of the state’s most iconic and flavorful native species.

A Feast for All Senses! Guests can savor crawfish-inspired dishes from popular local food trucks, including Sal & Phil’s Seafood and Dr. Flava’s Louisiana Kitchen, bringing classic Gulf flavors to the museum grounds. Live music will fill the air courtesy of TB Ledford and the Accumulators, whose signature blend of country blues, bluegrass, and jug-band tradition provides the perfect soundtrack for an afternoon of good eats and good company.

Beyond the food and music, CrawFest offers visitors a chance to explore the fascinating world of crawfish through interactive science stations, games, and activities. Area scientists will share their research on crawfish diversity and ecosystems across Mississippi.

Admission Details: CrawFest is included with museum admission of $9 for adults, $7 for youth ages 3-18, and $8 for senior citizens ages 60 and up, or is free for Mississippi Museum of Natural Science Foundation Members (MMNSF) – get details: https://www.mmnsfoundation.com/memberships.
