Mississippi Department Wildlife Fisheries and Parks’ Mississippi Museum of Natural Science is delighted to invite the public to an interactive event featuring acclaimed author and photographer Wesley L. Shoop on November 11, 2023, from 10 – 11:30 a.m. Visitors will embark on an enchanting journey into the heart of Mississippi’s rich natural heritage as Shoop explores the nature of LeFleur’s Bluff State Park in a presentation about his new book, “Mississippi’s Natural Heritage: Photographs of Flora and Fauna”. The book glories in the plants and animals of the state and includes a vast array of invertebrates, fossils, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals, plants, and fungi.
Mr. Shoop will personally sign copies of his book, share breathtaking images, and instruct visitors in creating their own memorable photos on a guided hike along the Museum’s nature trails in the park.
“Wesley L. Shoop’s dedication to his craft shines through as he shares his years of exploration, capturing a window into the remarkable diversity of life found right here in our back yard!” said Museum Director Charles Knight.
The event is included with Museum admission of $8 for adults, $7 for senior citizens 60+, and $6 for youth ages 3-18, or with Mississippi Museum of Natural Science Foundation Membership. Copies of the book will be available for purchase. For more information, visit www.mdwfp.com/museum or call (601) 576-6000.
