The Study Committee on Foreign Purchase of Farmland in Mississippi, chaired by Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson, will hold its second meeting in Room 113 at the State Capitol on Wednesday, September 27, beginning 10:00 a.m. Micah Brown, Staff Attorney with the National Agricultural Law Center, will be the guest speaker.
The Mississippi Legislature created the study committee for the purpose of studying the purchasing, acquiring, leasing or holding an interest in agricultural land by foreign governments. At its first meeting, the Study Committee elected Commissioner Andy Gipson as Chairman, Representative Bill Pigott as Vice Chairman and Representative Angela Cockerham as Secretary. The Study Committee will develop and report its findings to the Legislature on or before December 1, 2023.
