Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) received awards in three categories – News Documentary, Feature Reporting, and News Series.

Presented by the Radio Television Digital News Association, the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Awards have recognized excellence in broadcast and digital journalism since 1971. The awards honor outstanding local and national reporting that demonstrates journalistic integrity, technical excellence, and a deep commitment to serving communities through impactful storytelling. Named for legendary broadcaster Edward R. Murrow, the awards represent one of the highest standards of achievement in the journalism profession.

MPB Awards for 2026 include:

News Documentary Award for Everlasting: Life and Legacy of Medgar Evers

Feature Reporting category for Emmett Till remembered through events marking 70 years since the teenager’s brutal murder

News Series category award for 20 years later, remembering Hurricane Katrina

“Having our team recognized for their work is always humbling,” said Teresa Collier, MPB News Director, “I’m extremely proud of them and grateful to work with such a remarkable team of skilled professionals.”

The regional awards advance MPB to the national competition, with winners announced in August.
