On Thursday, March 28, 2024, the Mississippi Future Caucus – a bipartisan caucus of Gen Z and millennial legislators – will host a lunch and learn session in partnership with several environmental advocacy groups to learn more about the health impacts of biomass. The lunch and learn will take place in Room 401-A in the New Capitol at 12 noon.

The Mississippi Future Caucus is among 33 state chapters and over 1,800 young lawmakers in Future Caucus’ national movement of young elected officials collaborating to forge common ground. The young lawmakers who are a part of the Mississippi Future Caucus help build efforts that bring civility to the political discourse and prove that good governance begins with meaningful collaboration.

“The Mississippi Future has no official position on this issue. However, we’re grateful to be an outlet for Future Caucus members to learn more about our state’s most critical issues. Biomass will continue to impact the health of Mississippians for generations to come, and it’s important that we have these conversations now to really understand its lasting impact,” said Co-Chair Rep. Jeramey Anderson.

“Energy and the Environment is a key platform issue for Future Caucus, and this lunch and learn session is an opportunity for us to hear from experts and gain valuable insights about biomass, the current landscape in Mississippi, and strategies for how we can move ahead. I am grateful to our leadership for welcoming this conversation,” said Rep. Zakiya Summers.
