Mississippi’s love of good food, local agriculture and community will take center stage this September as the Mississippi Farmers Market and Genuine MS® Farmers Market host special peanut boils. The events will celebrate one of the South’s favorite traditions while showcasing Mississippi-grown peanuts and the farmers who bring them from the field to the table.
“Peanuts are more than a delicious Southern staple — they’re an important part of Mississippi agriculture and a source of pride for the farmers and communities who grow them,” said Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson. “The Great Mississippi Peanut Boil is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our farmers, showcase a product grown right here in our state, and bring Mississippians together over a simple tradition that’s all about good food, fellowship and supporting local agriculture. We’re proud to celebrate Mississippi peanuts and the hardworking people behind them.”
The Mississippi Farmers Market, located at 929 High Street in Jackson, will host its annual Great Mississippi Peanut Boil on Saturday, September 12, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Genuine MS® Farmers Market at the Brandon Amphitheater, located at 8190 Rock Way in Brandon, will host a Peanut Boil Jubilee, on Saturday, September 19, from 8:00 a.m. to noon.
