LeRoy Falcon: the new Chief Executive Officer

The Metropolitan YMCAs of Mississippi is excited to have welcomed a new Chief Executive Officer to the association on August 1, 2023. As an experienced business leader, LeRoy Falcon succeeds interim CEO, Jeff Collen who will restart his retirement after a year and half tenure as the organization’s CEO.

LeRoy, a thirty-six year YMCA veteran,  began his career as a YMCA volunteer in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. LeRoy applied his knowledge of health and wellness and his desire to help others to create a successful lifelong YMCA career. Previous roles include youth sports coach and program director, special events coordinator, fundraiser, camp counselor, group exercise instructor, personal trainer, Myers Briggs practitioner, physical director, YMCA health and wellness cluster coordinator for Louisiana and Mississippi, risk manager, executive director, and his current role as President/CEO.

LeRoy was instrumental in the growth and expansion of Baton Rouge’s CB Pennington Jr. YMCA, overseeing a facility renovation and building of a state-of-the-art aquatics center. LeRoy played a significant role on the management team and helped the association double in size while serving as the executive director. He served as the association’s risk manager and coordinator for many staff retreats and strategic planning sessions. LeRoy joined the YMCA of the Coosa Valley in Gadsden, Alabama as President/CEO in 2008 and was a driving force in the organization’s program growth and debt reductions. He recently led the YMCA staff and community volunteers through a strategic process that has positioned the YMCA to operate in a new and innovative model resulting in less operational cost and more program flexibility to expand the YMCA’s program outreach. LeRoy’s strength in community networking and collaborations has leveraged the Y to be a leading community partner agency as well as leader within the local United Way.

LeRoy would like the community to know the following, “I am happy to be joining the Metropolitan YMCA family and serving this community. This organization has a tremendous history, and I look forward to working with our community leaders to continue to serve and grow the YMCA’s legacy.”

As the Y welcomes Leroy, we’d like to thank Interim CEO Jeff Collen for his leadership during his time with our organization.  Through his efforts, we’re more ready and excited than ever to move forward and embrace Leroy’s skills and direction.
