Methodist Senior Services is pleased to announce that Jerone Lacking has been selected to serve as the new Executive Director for Traceway Retirement Community in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Jerone joined Methodist Senior Services in June of 2019 as the Executive Director of Riggs Manor Retirement Community. While serving there, Jerone has provided a wealth of experience in customer service and communication by recognizing the value of a listening ear. He has also expanded services available to the community and streamlined several processes for more efficiency and effectiveness of the services delivered to the elders.

Prior to joining Methodist Senior Services, Jerone served as a Nursing Home Administrator for the Mississippi Department of Mental Health at the Mississippi State Hospital. During his tenure there, Jerone served in various positions rising from a direct care worker to the Bureau Director of multiple Inpatient Psychiatric Treatment and Chemical Dependency Programs at the Mississippi State Hospital. Through public service, Jerone has been able to lead with a servant’s heart while encouraging others to show love and perform good deeds as well.

Jerone brings thirty plus years of public service experience to the Traceway Community, and he is excited to extend his heart in service in North Mississippi. “Being the Executive Director of the community that brought forth the first Green House® Home in the country is both an honor and a privilege,” said Lacking. “I am committed to serving the elders and our team members in the spirit of Christian love. It is said a tree is known by the fruit it bears and it is my desire to provide proper nurturance, inspire growth and connectedness as one sees from the peach tree.”

Jerone is also quite active in his local community. He has participated in a host of 5K, 10K, and half marathons to promote awareness of domestic violence, sickle cell disease, Alzheimer’s disease and other public health issues. In addition, Jerone engages in men’s outreach and empowerment through volunteering efforts. Jerone holds strong convictions and values. Believing no matter what path, you are on in life, whether personal or professional, your journey can only be fully experienced by being intentional and focused on fulfilling your life’s purpose.

Jerone holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Health Services Administration. He also holds the designation of Certified Public Manager through the Mississippi State Personnel Board and is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. He enjoys reading, gardening, and spending quality time with his family. He is married and a native Mississippian.
