In anticipation of National Nonprofit Day on August 17, Treasurer David McRae is urging all Mississippi nonprofit organizations to search for unclaimed money that rightfully belongs to them. This initiative aims to reunite nonprofits with funds that can support their invaluable missions and community services.
“Nonprofits pour their hearts, time, and resources into serving Mississippians,” McRae said. “Now, it’s our turn to give something back. By returning unclaimed money to these organizations, the State Treasury can help them continue their mission of changing lives and strengthening communities across our state.”
Nonprofits play a crucial role in Mississippi’s social fabric, serving as beacons of hope and catalysts for positive change. Many of these organizations may be unaware that they are entitled to unclaimed money, which includes forgotten bank accounts, uncashed checks, insurance proceeds, and more.
The process of reclaiming funds is straightforward and requires minimal effort from nonprofit leaders. By taking a few moments to search, organizations could uncover financial resources that may have been overlooked or forgotten.
