The Mississippi Agriculture and Livestock Theft Bureau (MALTB), the law enforcement division of the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce, recently recovered a stolen farm tractor in Hinds County with the assistance of the Jackson Police Department.
On May 31, 2023, the Jackson Police Department took a theft report for a stolen 1953 Ford Jubilee farm tractor from a business in the city of Jackson. The MALTB was then notified of the farm equipment theft.
During the investigation, information surfaced that led investigators to an area off Gardina Street in Jackson, Mississippi. Investigators located the tractor behind an abandoned house in that area. Investigators with the Mississippi Agriculture and Livestock Theft Bureau and Jackson Police Department recovered the stolen farm tractor.
MALTB Director Dean Barnard described this investigation as a law enforcement team effort between the Jackson Police Department and the Mississippi Agriculture and Livestock Theft Bureau. Barnard commended MALTB investigators and the Jackson Police Department for their continued effort in the recovery of stolen farm assets.
“I encourage anyone with knowledge of an agricultural crime to report that information immediately to the Mississippi Agriculture and Livestock Theft Bureau,” said Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson. “Our investigators are positioned throughout the state to better serve those in their area and often partner with local law enforcement officers to bring criminals to justice.”
