On Friday, Feb. 27 at 11:00 a.m., the Mississippi Main Street Association (MMSA) will designate the city of Magee, Miss. as an official Mississippi Main Street Community.

The ceremony will take place at The Community House at 1st Avenue NW in Magee.

Working through the Mississippi Main Street Association membership pathway, Main Street Magee became a an Associate Member of Mississippi Main Street Association in 2023, a Network Member in 2025, and has met all benchmarks to now achieve official Main Street Designation.

The city of Magee joins 48 other Designated Main Street Communities in Mississippi which is the highest tier of membership with Mississippi Main Street. Benefits of membership include staff support and technical services, educational trainings in the Main Street Approach, grant opportunities, statewide marketing, and advocacy endeavors.

“The Designated membership is reserved for those communities that have demonstrated a sustained, successful commitment to their revitalization journey,” said Jeannie Waller Zieren, MMSA Executive Director. “This is a significant achievement for the City of Magee and Main Street Magee, and we welcome them into the strong network of Main Street communities in Mississippi!”

Speakers at the designation will include Mark Grubbs, Mayor, City of Magee; Kelle Barfield, President, Mississippi Main Street Association Board of Directors; Lee Maddox, President, Main Street Magee; Jeannie Zieren, Executive Director, Mississippi Main Street Association; and Tiffany Kinslow, Executive Director, Main Street Magee.

Ready to preserve our character while building our future,” said Tiffany Kinslow, Main Street Magee Executive Director. “This milestone reflects the unity between our city leaders, volunteers, and businesses.
