National Beta members from Magnolia Gulf Coast Beta Club are celebrating their recent participation in the 78th Annual Mississippi State Senior and 32nd Annual Mississippi State Elementary and Junior Beta State Conventions during the week of February 19th – 23rd, 2024. Those below were announced as winners of the following competitions:
- Senior Division: 3rd place for club Technology entry; 4th place for Service-Learning Showcase; 3rd place for Division I Creative Writing – Kaitlyn Atwater, 4th place for 10th Grade Biomedical Academic Testing – Alexis Dillman; Division I Visual Arts – 1st place in Black and White Photography – Elijah Hudson, 1st place in Digital Art – Alexis Dillman, 4th place in Woodworking – Connor Williams; Division II Visual Arts – 4th place in Woodworking – Austin Cucuzza.
- Junior Division: 2nd place in Accessorized design; Academic Testing – 1st place in 7th grade Science – Wyatt Nelson, 2nd place in Creative Writing – Lydia Crepps, 5th place in 7th grade Social Studies – Madelyn Dillard; Junior Visual Arts – 3rd place in Color Photography – Alexander Bouchard.
- Elementary Division: 1st place for club Technology entry; 4th place for club Trading pin; 2nd place for club Three Dimensional Design; 1st place for Quiz Bowl; Academic Testing – 5th place for 4th Grade Science – Abigail Dillard, 4th place for 4th grade Social Studies – Hailey Dial, 3rd place for 5th Grade Language, and 1st place for 5th Grade Social Studies – Garrett Nelson; 2nd place for Elementary Solo Dance in Performance Arts – Angela Dacus; Elementary Visual Arts – 5th place in Mixed Media – Abigail Dillard, 4th place in Digital Art – Hailey Dial, 2nd place in Sculpture – Garrett Nelson, and 1st place in Quilling – Luke Dillman
Magnolia Gulf Coast Beta Club (MGC Beta) is a group of homeschool students in 4th through 12th grade from across the Gulf Coast area. Members who attended the 78th Annual Mississippi State Senior Beta Convention included: Apollo Stafford of Saucier, Austin Cucuzza of Wiggins (President), Connor Williams of Biloxi, Elijah Hudson of Ocean Springs (Vice President), Jacob Dial of Long Beach, S.J. Dillman of Long Beach (Chaplain), Alexis Dillman of Long Beach (Treasurer), Ronald Stanbro Jr. of Long Beach (Historian), and Kaitlyn Atwater of Gulfport (Secretary). Members who attended the Annual Mississippi State Elementary and Junior Beta State Convention included: Wyatt Nelson of Ocean Springs (Jr. Secretary), Elizabeth Dacus of Gulfport (Jr. President/Historian/Chaplain), Madelyn Dillard of Gulfport (Jr. Vice President), Lydia Crepps of Vancleave (Jr. Treasurer), Alexander Bouchard of Ocean Springs, Garrett Nelson of Ocean Springs (Ele. President), Luke Dillman of Long Beach (Ele. Treasurer), Hailey Dial of Long Beach (Ele. Vice President), Abigail Dillard of Gulfport (Ele. Historian), Angela Dacus of Gulfport (Ele. Secretary/Chaplain), and Micah Cameron of Gulfport. Members who supported attendees from home include Braxton Bates of Saucier. National Beta State Convention allows students the opportunity to compete in various academic and STEM-based, virtual and performing arts competitions. These victories at the state level provide an opportunity to compete at the national level. National Convention will be held at the Savannah International Convention Center in Savannah, GA during Summer 2024.
