Local author and journalist Joe Curtis has announced the release of his new book, Dr. Dill’s Antique Shop For Tohopkas, a Southern adventure story filled with mystery, imagination and unforgettable characters.

Set in historic Natchez, Mississippi, the novel follows three adventurous pre-teens, Zack, Pickle and Rose, as they uncover one of the city’s oldest secrets: the Tohopkas. As the quiet Southern spring turns into an extraordinary adventure, the young friends must protect a hidden world that has existed for generations.

“Think The Spiderwick Chronicles served with a Southern flair,” Curtis said, explaining his newest novel. “It is a middle-grade fantasy adventure novel that everyone can enjoy.”

Blending humor, suspense and a love for Southern culture, Dr. Dill’s Antique Shop For Tohopkas offers readers a fresh and imaginative tale rooted in the rich history and charm of the Mississippi River region.

Curtis, a Louisiana journalist and storyteller, is known for his work covering community news, local history and the people who make small-town life unique. Through years of writing feature stories and human-interest pieces, he has developed a passion for preserving Southern voices and traditions. That same appreciation for storytelling shines through in his fiction, where folklore, history and adventure come together.

“This book is a celebration of imagination, friendship and the hidden wonders that can be found in places we think we already know,” Curtis said. “Natchez has such a deep and fascinating history, and I wanted to create a story that captured that magic.”

Dr. Dill’s Antique Shop For Tohopkas is now available on Kindle format and paperback May 11 through Amazon.
