Jackson State University is celebrating a major milestone in its football program as Head Coach T.C. Taylor was recognized on one of the sport’s biggest stages. On Saturday, Taylor was honored at the Black College Football Hall of Fame after being named the 2024 Black College Football Coach of the Year.

The recognition follows a remarkable season in which Taylor led the Tigers to a 12-2 record, clinched the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) East Division title, and secured a SWAC Championship victory. Under his leadership, Jackson State went on to win the school’s first-ever Cricket Celebration Bowl, capturing a national title and establishing the longest active winning streak in the country at 10 games.

In just his second season as head coach, Taylor has made a swift and significant impact on the program. He has compiled a 19-7 overall record during his tenure and has earned national recognition, including a spot on the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year list—an honor reserved for the top coaches in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).

Taylor, a former Jackson State standout himself, has not only elevated the program on the field but also reinvigorated pride throughout the university and its community. His leadership, commitment, and deep ties to the institution have made him a respected figure both within the SWAC and across the national landscape of HBCU football.

The celebration of Coach Taylor’s achievements underscores a new era for Jackson State football—one built on tradition, talent, and an unwavering drive for excellence.
