The Popeyes Foundation℠ and Feed the Children will bring the second SERVING WITH LOVE® Tour to Jackson on Wednesday, May 13, as part of a nationwide effort to combat food insecurity and provide relief to families facing hardship.

The Jackson stop marks the 13th city on the 2026 national tour, which will visit 15 communities across the country. Organizers said the initiative is designed to support families struggling with rising costs for food, housing and other basic necessities.

The event will be held at the MS Urban League/EversCare Food Pantry, located at 2548 Livingston Road in Jackson. An opening ceremony is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., followed by food and essentials distribution from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

In partnership with Mississippi Food Network, the Popeyes Foundation and Feed the Children plan to provide 400 local families with a 25-pound box of shelf-stable food and a 15-pound box of essentials, including personal care items.

Organizers said an additional 400 families in the Jackson area will receive supplemental food and essentials within 100 days after the event, extending support through the summer months when food insecurity often increases.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, about one in eight households in Mississippi experiences food insecurity. Organizers also noted that approximately 27% of Jackson residents live below the poverty line.

“The SERVING WITH LOVE Tour reflects Popeyes Foundation’s ongoing commitment to strengthening communities and addressing food insecurity nationwide,” organizers said in a statement.

Scheduled speakers and participants include Renee Hobbs, executive director of the Popeyes Foundation; Dan Stephens, Feed the Children account strategy and corporate partnerships director for the East Region; Cassandra Mobley, chief operating officer of Mississippi Food Network; Dr. Portia Espy, president and CEO of the Mississippi Urban League; and Dr. Victor Gholar of EversCare.

The event will also feature volunteers distributing food and essentials to local families and a Feed the Children semi-truck stocked with supplies.

Feed the Children is a nonprofit organization focused on ending childhood hunger through food distribution, education and community support programs. The Popeyes Foundation partners with organizations nationwide to support hunger relief and community development initiatives.
