Huber Engineered Woods (HEW), a subsidiary of J.M. Huber Corporation, is continuing its investment in education and community development with a significant $170,000 contribution to support Project Lead the Way (PLTW) programs across Noxubee and Kemper County schools, as well as Kemper Academy. The funding will provide full K–12 access to PLTW’s nationally recognized STEM curriculum, designed to prepare students for careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

On Thursday, October 9, HEW leaders will join Dr. David Dimmitt, President and CEO of Project Lead the Way, for a visit to the Introduction to Engineering Design classroom at the Noxubee County Career and Technical Center in Macon. The visit will highlight the hands-on experiences made possible through the program and the direct impact Huber’s investment is having on local students and teachers.

“The partnership between Huber and Project Lead the Way represents a shared commitment to preparing young people for meaningful futures,” said Dr. Dimmitt. “By bringing real-world learning into classrooms, we’re helping students develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive in the modern workforce.”

The event will also feature remarks from Amanda Gentry, Senior Director of Advancement for PLTW; Lea Volpe, Vice President of Communications and Community Relations for J.M. Huber Corporation; Elden Padgett, Plant Manager for Huber Engineered Woods; and Dr. Washington Cole IV, Superintendent of Noxubee County Schools. Each will share insight into how collaboration between industry and education is fostering new opportunities for students in Mississippi’s rural communities.

“Supporting STEM education aligns with our long-term goal of strengthening communities where we live and work,” said Padgett. “These programs help spark innovation and equip the next generation with tools for success, which ultimately benefits the entire region.”

The visit will take place from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Noxubee County Career and Technical Center, located at 3002 U.S. Highway 45 North in Macon.
