Goodwill Industries of Mississippi has named James Spearin as its new Vice President of Operations, bringing more than 25 years of executive leadership experience in nonprofit management, retail operations and organizational leadership.

In his new role, Spearin will oversee all facets of Goodwill’s retail operations across Central Mississippi, focusing on operational excellence, employee development and advancing the organization’s mission of transforming lives through lifelong learning and meaningful work.

Before joining Goodwill Industries of Mississippi, Spearin served as District Manager for Mokan/MERS Goodwill Industries in the Kansas City region, where he directed retail operations exceeding $20 million annually and led more than 300 employees. His career also includes executive leadership roles with the YMCA, where he managed large-scale operations, multimillion dollar budgets and community partnerships.

“I am thrilled to join the team at Goodwill of Mississippi who demonstrate each day the difference we can make in our lives and the lives of others through life-long learning and meaningful work,” said Spearin. “The passion our staff have for serving others and building strong relationships in the community is inspiring and quite simply, just fun to be around.”

Goodwill Industries of Mississippi President and CEO Brad Steffani said Spearin’s leadership experience makes him an ideal addition to the executive team.

“James understands that strong operations create stronger opportunities for the people we serve. His experience leading teams, improving performance and building mission-driven cultures will help position Goodwill for continued growth as we expand our impact across Central Mississippi. We are excited to welcome him to the Goodwill of Mississippi family.”
