GE Aerospace is moving forward with a major expansion of its manufacturing operations in Batesville, Mississippi, signaling continued growth for the region’s aerospace sector. The company’s recently announced $11 million investment is part of a broader effort to increase production capabilities and will result in the creation of 100 new jobs over the next three years.

The expansion includes the addition of advanced industrial equipment, precision measuring tools, high-precision machinery, and new inspection technology. These enhancements will support increased production of critical components used in narrowbody and widebody commercial aircraft engines, as well as engines for military fighter jets and helicopters.

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves praised the announcement, stating, “This latest investment ensures 100 more Mississippians can find rewarding, good-paying work with this global aerospace leader right here at home. Great things are happening in Mississippi, and this latest win once again shows the world that we have the talent, the resources and the pro-business attitude that make companies like GE Aerospace want to grow here.”

Support for the expansion is being provided by the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive (MFLEX) program. MDA is also assisting with building improvements and equipment relocation. Additional partners in the project include AccelerateMS, Panola Partnership, TVA, and Northwest Mississippi Community College.

Bill Cork, Executive Director of MDA, emphasized the strategic importance of GE Aerospace’s continued investment in Mississippi. “Since first breaking ground in Panola County more than a decade and a half ago, GE Aerospace has been key to the success of Mississippi’s aerospace and defense industry,” Cork said. “This is a world-class company that is globally recognized for its jet engines, and we are proud to be able to say the composite components that go into those engines are made in Batesville, Mississippi.”

At the heart of this expansion is a commitment to innovation and workforce development. Brian Rapien, Plant Leader at GE Aerospace’s Batesville Composites Operation, noted the evolving role of the site: “From the start, the GE Aerospace site has been at the forefront of manufacturing cutting-edge parts that are key for the future of aviation. These parts that are made from new, advanced materials play a key role in providing more efficiency and durability in GE Aerospace’s newest engines.”

The company anticipates a steady ramp-up in hiring, with the goal of filling all 100 positions over the next three years. The project not only strengthens GE Aerospace’s footprint in Mississippi but also reinforces the state’s role as a national hub for aerospace innovation and manufacturing excellence.
