In honor of Christopher Columbus, the Gulf Coast Italian American Cultural Society (GCIACS) will be holding their tenth annual Columbus Day evening dinner and dance on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Beau Rivage Casino and Resort in Biloxi. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Azalea Terrace and end at 11:00.

For the first time in the event’s history, the G.C.I.A.C.S. has the delight to announce that Rouses Market will also be sponsoring the celebration. As the theme for this year’s dancing, Rouses Market has chosen “Mambo Italiano”. The Sicily Swing Band and singer Cheri Salvetti will entertain with Italian and Italian-American standards. The dancing will last around four hours. The Master of Ceremonies will be Mr. William Sackett, the administrator liaison of the Biloxi Police Department and the vice president of the society.

The keynote speaker will be Mrs. Dina Linn of Pensacola. Mrs. Linn is the President of Primo Paradiso Lodge #0280, the newest chapter of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America (ISDA). In 2023, she served as a delegate to the inaugural CAPOMIAO Italian American Future Leaders Conference. Both a daughter and granddaughter of Italian immigrants, Mrs. Linn is the supervisory museum curator for the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola.

Other speakers will include The Honorable Charles Marsala, President of the American Italian Federation of the Southeast, and Mr. John Miller, Biloxi Police Chief.

Special guests invited include Mr. Donny Rouse, Chief Executive Officer/or representative of Rouses Market; and The Honorable Andrew Gilich, Mayor of the City of Biloxi.

“An exquisite Italian American buffet will be prepared by the chefs”, said Elizabeth Rosomer, Convention General Manager of the Beau Rivage Casino, and Resort. The evening fare will include carved smoked prime beef, shrimp and chicken skewers, pasta, and a variety of vegetable and salad dishes. The dinner will conclude with an assortment of desserts, such as chocolate amaretto torte, pistachio crème parfait, and blueberry cobbler. The cocktail hour will feature wine and spirits available for purchase.

The cost to attend is $75.00 per person for GCIACS members, and $80.00 for non-members. Should you wish to reserve a ticket, please mail the check to 2600 Santa Rosa Cove, Biloxi, MS 39531, payable to the “Gulf Coast Italian American Cultural Society”.
