The community, community leaders, arts advocates, and elected officials are warmly invited to attend Fashion at the Faire, a living fashion show presented as part of the Midsummer Night Faire on April 10, 5:00–8:00 PM on the grounds of the Mary C O’Keefe Cultural Arts Center.

Developed through the Alchemy of Cloth: Upcycled Fashion Maker Workshop Series, this interactive showcase features participants who have spent the past month transforming reclaimed textiles into original, wearable designs. The event offers a dynamic alternative to the traditional runway: models move through the festival grounds, engaging with visitors, vendors, and performers while guests vote live for their favorite looks.

Fashion at the Faire celebrates craftsmanship, sustainability, and inclusive creative expression—demonstrating how accessible, community-based arts programming can inspire new makers, elevate local talent, and encourage environmental responsibility through upcycling and slow fashion.

The project is led by designer Suzanne Stafford, whose work centers on costumes, community, and creative engagement across the Mississippi Gulf Coast. “This project is about showing what’s possible,” Stafford shares. “When people are given the tools and encouragement to create, they not only make something beautiful—they build confidence and connection within their community.”

This project is supported in part by funding from the Mississippi Arts Commission, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, reflecting a shared commitment to expanding access to the arts and fostering cultural vitality across Mississippi.

We encourage you to attend this event to witness firsthand the impact of public arts funding in action—supporting local artists, engaging residents of all ages and backgrounds, and creating meaningful, place-based cultural experiences.

The Midsummer Night Faire is a free, family-friendly community event open to the public.
