The day begins with a lunch/reunion for members of the Golden Anniversary Class of 1973 at 11 a.m. in Mabry Memorial Cafeteria. To reserve a lunch ticket, class members should contact the Alumni Relations office at mmcleod@eccc.edu or call 601-635-6303.
A campus-wide pep rally will be held at 12:15 p.m. on the East Mall near the cafeteria. The Memorabilia Room will be open and campus tours by Warrior Corps student ambassadors will also be available for guests from 1 to 3 p.m.
At 3 p.m., a reception hosted by the ECCC Alumni Association begins in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium. This event is free and open to all alumni and friends of the college. Reunion groups will also meet at this time and include: the Class of 1973 Golden Anniversary, Class of 1998 Silver Anniversary, the 1952-53 Men’s Basketball State Champions, 1972-73 Women’s Basketball State Champions, 1992-93 Men’s Basketball State Champions, 1997 and 2003 Region 23 Div. III Golf Champions, and the Centralettes, Cheerleaders, Wall O’ Sound Band, an Phi Theta Kappa honor society.
The college will recognize its 2023 Alumni Honorees with a special program at 3:30 p.m., also in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium. Honorees include: Cyrus Ben (’98) of Choctaw, Chief of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, and Harriet Vickers Laird (’84) of Starkville, senior associate director of the Office of Public Affairs at Mississippi State University, who will be recognized as Alumnus and Alumna of the Year, respectively, and Marty Cooper of Fulton, former men’s basketball coach who led the 1993 team to the MACJC Championship, and Jason Willis of Philadelphia, a former Warrior baseball standout and member of the 1998 MACJC Championship team, who are this year’s Athletic Hall of Fame inductees.
Alumni Association Tailgating will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. under the tent in the South End Zone area of Bailey Stadium. This event is free for current Alumni Association members and $10 for all other alumni and guests.
A Mini-Pep Rally Featuring the Wall O’ Sound Drum Line and Warrior Cheerleaders will be held at approximately 6 p.m. in the South End Zone of Bailey Stadium near the tailgating tent.
The football game kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with the ECCC Warriors hosting Northeast Mississippi Community College. Game tickets are $10 each and may be purchased at the gate. Alumni of the Year and Athletic Hall of Fame inductees will present the game ball and serve as honorary team captains.
The Homecoming Court will be presented and the Queen announced during halftime followed by the Wall O’ Sound Marching Band which will present its halftime show.
