The Mississippi Arts Commission created a mural for Crestwood Elementary School, now on display in the school’s cafeteria for students, faculty, staff, and parents to enjoy.
Principal Dana Bell shared that students played a key role in designing the mural, which features the school’s daily motto and reflects the spirit of the campus.
“The mural displays our school-wide motto, which we recite each day: ‘You are free to choose, but you are not free from the consequences of your choices. So make it a great day or not, the choice is yours,’” Bell explained. “This message reinforces the importance of accountability and decision-making among our students. The mural captures the energy, excitement, and values that define Crestwood. It’s a beautiful representation of our community, brought to life with the help of the Mississippi Arts Commission, and we hope it remains a lasting fixture in our cafetorium.”
In addition to the unveiling of the mural, the school also celebrated the achievements of high-performing students and recognized the exceptional efforts of teachers throughout the district.
