Commissioner Willie Simmons, Central Transportation District; and Dr. Elayne H. Anthony, President, Jackson State University will announce a multiuse sidewalk improvement project for pedestrian and bicycle traffic along Lynch Street between Dalton Street and University Boulevard for approximately half a mile in Jackson. Energy efficient lighting will also be included in the project.
The press conference will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the corner of Dalton St. and Lynch St. in Jackson. In the event of rain, the event will be held on the third floor of the student center at Jackson State University.
The Mississippi Transportation Commission recently approved up to $695,600 in Federal Transportation Alternative (TA) Program funds to Jackson State University for the project. These funds require a 20 percent local match which combined with the federal funds are to be applied towards the project scope. Final project details and termini will be defined and approved during development.
