Auto Parts Manufacturing Mississippi is expanding its operations in Lee County through a $53 million investment that will create 28 new jobs over the next five years.
The company, one of the leading North American suppliers of parts for the Toyota Corolla manufactured in Blue Springs, will increase production capacity at its Guntown facility through the purchase, installation and renovation of production equipment.
Gov. Tate Reeves said the expansion reinforces Mississippi’s reputation as a leader in automotive manufacturing.
“APMM’s $53 million investment marks another huge win for Lee County and Mississippi’s automotive industry,” Reeves said. “Expansions like this strengthen our position as a top state for automotive manufacturing. Mississippi has an impressive manufacturing track record, and world-class companies know they can count on our state to get the job done.”
APMM was established by Toyota Auto Body-Japan in 2007 and began production in 2011. The company specializes in metal stamping, injection molding, plastics manufacturing and robotic welding.
Mississippi Development Authority Executive Director Bill Cork said the company’s continued investment reflects confidence in the state’s workforce and business environment.
“Companies don’t keep investing in the same place for nearly 20 years unless it’s working,” Cork said. “APMM’s latest expansion reflects the value the company continues to find in Mississippi’s workforce, location and business climate. Repeat investment is one of the strongest measures of success, and this project is exactly the kind of outcome we work to achieve.”
The Mississippi Development Authority is supporting the project through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive, or MFLEX, program. Lee County also is assisting with the expansion.
Auto Parts Manufacturing Mississippi Vice President Kim Crumbie said the company remains committed to both its employees and the surrounding community.
“APMM appreciates the continued support from the state of Mississippi and Lee County in this expansion effort,” Crumbie said. “APMM remains committed to supporting the local community while helping attract, train and develop a skilled workforce for the future.”
Lee County Board of Supervisors President Barry Parker welcomed the announcement and praised the company’s continued partnership with the county.
“On behalf of the Lee County Board of Supervisors, we thank APMM for its continued investment in Lee County,” Parker said. “This new expansion and added jobs reflect strong confidence in our community and workforce. We are pleased to partner with APMM and look forward to its continued success here.”
The company expects to complete the expansion project and fill the new positions over the next five years.
