As the summer boating season approaches, water enthusiasts across the state are preparing to hit the waterways. To promote boating safety and minimize accidents on the water, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) will be participating in the upcoming National Boating Safety Week.

Taking place from May 20  26, this week’s initiative aims to educate boaters on essential safety measures and encourage all boaters to be responsible while out on the waterFollow along on our social media channels as we discuss important topics like life jackets, boating under the influence, necessary items to keep on board, and more.

We are excited to participate in National Boating Safety Week and stress the importance of safe boating practices. Whether you are a seasoned operator or a newcomer on the water, may this week be a reminder of how quickly a fun day on the water can turn serious if safety is not prioritized,” said Col. Jerry Carter, Chief of Law Enforcement at MDWFP. “Our goal is to equip boaters with the knowledge they need to make responsible choices and prevent accidents.”
