
Statewide downtown revitalization leader selected as one of Mississippi’s top 40 young professionals by the Mississippi Business Journal.
Mississippi Main Street Association’s Executive Director Thomas Gregory was recently named among the Mississippi Business Journal’s (MBJ’s) 2023 Top 40 Under 40 award honorees.
MBJ’s Top 40 Under 40 program is designed to identify and honor Mississippi civic and business leaders who are making significant contributions to economic progress at the state and local level.
Winners of the prestigious award work across a wide variety of industries in the state, including economic and community development, healthcare, higher education, and government.
Gregory said he was honored to be included among the group of talented young professionals.
“I am sincerely honored and humbled to be recognized as one of the Mississippi Business Journal’s ‘Top 40 Under 40’ for 2023,” Gregory said. “I am passionate about helping Mississippi’s communities grow and prosper, and I look forward to continuing to serve our state through my work at the Mississippi Main Street Association.”
Gregory has served as the executive director of MMSA since 2019 where he leads the organization’s administrative, advocacy, and development efforts. A certified community planner, Gregory previously worked for the Small Town Center at Mississippi State University and as the chief administrative officer for the City of Greenwood, Miss.
Gregory received a Master of City and Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and both an MBA and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Mississippi State University.
He is past president of the Mississippi Chapter of the American Planning Association, and a past participant in Leadership Mississippi, the Public Interest Design Institute, and the Sustainable Cities Design Academy. Gregory currently serves as a board member for the Mississippi Heritage Trust and Keep Mississippi Beautiful and as a member of the Greenwood Planning Commission. He and his family reside in his hometown of Greenwood, Miss.
