Huntington National Bank is investing more than $21.1 million to renovate its data and information processing operations center in Tupelo, a project expected to strengthen the company’s long-term presence in the city.
The renovations will encompass all three floors of Huntington’s Tupelo facility. The project also includes exterior modifications designed to increase natural light, expanded parking and infrastructure improvements.
Additional upgrades will include electric vehicle charging stations, solar panels, improvements to the facility’s water and elevator systems, and a new entrance.
The Mississippi Development Authority is assisting with site preparation and construction costs, as well as providing support through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive, or MFLEX, program. The city of Tupelo and Lee County also are supporting the project.
“Before entering public service, I spent my career in finance, so I understand the importance of Huntington’s decision to invest more than $21 million in its Tupelo operations center,” Gov. Tate Reeves said. “Tupelo has a long history in the financial services industry, and this investment positions the facility to serve Huntington well into the future while helping ensure the city remains an important center for financial services.”
Mississippi Development Authority Executive Director PJ Waldrop said the project demonstrates the value of investing in an existing corporate operation.
“Huntington acquired a major operation in Tupelo, and now the company is putting more than $21 million into modernizing a location that has the infrastructure and capabilities to support a major financial institution,” Waldrop said. “MDA works to make sure companies have every reason to put capital to work in Mississippi, and this project does just that by bringing substantial private investment into an existing corporate operation in Tupelo.”
Huntington is a top 10 U.S. commercial bank serving consumers, businesses, corporations, municipalities and other organizations across the Midwest, South and Texas. Some of its businesses operate nationally.
In February 2026, Huntington completed its partnership with Cadence Bank, a regional bank headquartered in Houston and Tupelo. The partnership expanded Huntington’s presence across Texas and the South, adding more than 390 branches and bringing Huntington’s total branch network to nearly 1,400 locations across 21 states.
Joseph Moss, Huntington’s Mississippi regional president, said the Tupelo renovation reflects the company’s broader investment in the state and its employees.
“Huntington’s investment in Tupelo reflects our broader commitment to Mississippi and to the colleagues and communities that are central to how we operate,” Moss said. “Tupelo has long been home to a highly skilled operations team, and this project gives our colleagues the modern workplace and tools they need to continue delivering exceptional support for our customers.”
Moss also credited state and local partners for helping move the project forward.
“We’re proud to move this work forward with state and local partners who understand the long-term value of keeping this important operation strong in Mississippi,” he said.
Skipper Holliman, chairman of the Community Development Foundation, said the project could provide additional opportunities for the facility and the community.
“This is a significant capital investment in the Tupelo operations and will create an opportunity for more growth into the future,” Holliman said.
Huntington Bancshares Incorporated, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, is the parent company of Huntington National Bank.
The renovation project is expected to be completed by mid-2027.
