As you’d expect, it’s brimming with charm, but that’s just one reason to visit the only covered bridge in Mississippi; here are 5 others.

Surrounded by vibrant foliage in the fall and blankets of snow in the winter, the covered bridge only gets better as the year progresses. And since you can walk OR drive through it, unfavorable weather won’t affect your visit.

3. It is part of Mineral Springs Park.

The bridge’s location in Mineral Springs Park is easily its best perk.

The park features a playground, gazebos, tennis courts, basketball courts, a walking track, picnic tables, and… a whole lot of history!

The springs for which the park is named were once known for their healing powers. According to legend, the waters cured Iuka, a Chickasaw chief who suffered from a chronic illness.

A lot of details about the bridge, such as its age or date of construction, are vague. The only confirmed facts are that it was damaged and repaired in the early 1990s. The surrounding grounds also have a certain mystique. It’s believed that Chief Iuka’s grave is not far from the park.

5. It gives you a reason to visit Iuka, which is home several other one-of-a-kind sites.

With around 3,000 residents, Iuka is by definition a small town. However, unlike most small towns, it’s home to several unique sites, including the state’s only drive-in theater and the nation’s only apron museum.
