Three new campus Deans of Student Services at Hinds Community College officially began their roles on July 1, including two familiar faces from within Hinds and one accomplished leader from Mississippi State University.
Raymond Campus Dean Dr. Tommy “TJ” Walker, a native of Prentiss living in Pearl, Rankin Campus Dean Andrew Gunn of Edwards and Jackson Campus Dean Tiffany Moore of Jackson step into critical leadership roles across our campuses. Their leadership is key to strengthening campus culture, improving access to student services and ensuring every student feels seen, heard and supported, said Dr. Jennifer Scott-Gilmore, Vice President of Student Services.
“I’m incredibly excited to welcome the new Deans to our Student Services leadership team,” Dr. Scott-Gilmore said.
“Each of them brings a unique blend of insight and experience to this role, and their passion for student success is evident. I am confident that our new Deans will lead with integrity and a student-first mindset. Together, we are committed to fostering a culture of care and accountability where every student across our campuses feels empowered to succeed,” she said.
These three new leaders join current Vicksburg-Warren Campus Dean Raina Deer of Jackson and current Utica Campus Dean Donny Epting of Clinton forming a strong, student-centered Dean leadership team across Hinds Community College, Dr. Scott-Gilmore said.
Dr. TJ Walker joins Hinds from Mississippi State University, where he most recently served as Director for the Office of Pre-College and Opportunity Programs. He also brings extensive leadership experience from his previous role as District Dean of Student Services at Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia.
Dr. Walker holds a Doctorate in Education from the University of Mississippi, a Master’s degree from Belhaven University and a Bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University. At Hinds, he now leads student services on the Raymond Campus and also oversees Housing and Student Recreation.
“It’s with gratitude and enthusiasm that I step into the role of Dean of Students at Hinds Community College in Raymond. As a first-generation college student who grew up in a rural community myself, I intimately understand the unique path many of our students embark on. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated administration, staff and, most importantly, our students and families to foster an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to achieve success at Hinds,” Dr. Walker said.
Andrew Gunn, a Hinds alumnus, now serves as Dean of Student Services at the Rankin Campus, which includes future oversight of the new Health Sciences Complex set to open in Fall 2026.
Gunn graduated from Hinds in 2012, earned a Bachelor’s degree from Belhaven University in 2014, received his Master’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, and is currently completing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education at Jackson State University.
Since joining Hinds in 2017, Gunn has served as Assistant Athletic Director, where he played a vital role in strengthening student engagement, promoting academic accountability and supporting conflict resolution among students.
“This is an exciting time of growth and momentum for the Rankin Campus, and I’m eager to support our students as we shape a future full of opportunity, innovation and community,” Gunn said. “I look forward to working alongside our faculty, staff and students to help Hinds thrive, both in and beyond the classroom.”
Tiffany Moore has been named Dean of Student Services at the Jackson Campus, where she also provides leadership for Testing and Assessment Services. Moore has been part of the Hinds family since 2017, starting as a recruiter for the Nursing and Allied Health Center and later serving as an advisor, online adjunct instructor and PTK advisor.
Moore holds a Bachelor’s degree from Belhaven University, a Master’s degree from Kaplan University, and is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Professional Studies at Delta State University.
“I am honored to serve as the new Dean of Students at the Jackson Campus,” she said. “Working alongside an incredible team, I am dedicated to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all students.”
