TrueCare brought its statewide Rural Road Show to Greenville on Wednesday, connecting Delta families, expectant parents, new mothers, caregivers, and residents with maternal and child health resources at the Washington County Convention Center.
The event comes as Mississippi continues to face some of the nation’s most urgent maternal and infant health challenges, including high infant mortality, preventable maternal deaths, rural provider shortages, and limited access to prenatal and postpartum care.
“TrueCare brought the Rural Road Show to Greenville to connect families with the resources, education, and support they need to build healthier futures,” said Ashley Thompson, CEO of TrueCare. “We valued the opportunity to work alongside maternal health organizations, state service networks, and community partners to support mothers, children, caregivers, and families across the Delta.”
The Rural Road Show featured free prenatal and postpartum support, free health screenings and education, on-site program experts, support for expecting fathers, family activities, door prizes, baby supply giveaways, and community partner resources.
The event gave eligible Mississippi Medicaid members an opportunity to learn more about their health plan options during open enrollment, which runs through Dec. 15. The event also highlighted Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Red Ribbon Week, giving attendees access to education and resources focused on early detection, prevention, healthy choices, and community support.
