Gulf States Canners is set to expand its canning facility in Clinton, investing $40.8 million in a project that will create 19 new jobs. The company, a longstanding partner in the Clinton business community since 1972, produces canned and bottled products for Coca-Cola bottlers. This expansion will include modernization of the existing facility, boosting efficiency and capacity, and adding a new PET bottle production line for Coca-Cola sparkling products and Dasani water.

Governor Tate Reeves praised the project, stating, “Gulf States Canners has been a valued business partner to Mississippi for more than 50 years. It’s exciting to see that the company is not only thriving, but also expanding its operations and bringing new jobs to the City of Clinton.”

Mississippi Development Authority is supporting the project through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive (MFLEX) program, with additional assistance from AccelerateMS, the city of Clinton, and the Hinds County Board of Supervisors.

Mark Shorter, General Manager of Gulf States Canners, added, “This expansion marks a significant milestone in Gulf States Canners’ history and underlines our long-term commitment to the Clinton community and our employees.”

The expansion is expected to be completed within a year, with new jobs filled over the next two years.
