Mayo Clinic Laboratories is establishing operations in Southaven with a corporate investment of more than $30 million that is expected to create 234 jobs in DeSoto County.
From its new Southaven location, Mayo Clinic Laboratories will perform diagnostic testing for hospitals and clients, providing patients with accurate and timely results. The company plans to fill the 234 positions over the next several years.
Mayo Clinic Laboratories selected Southaven in part because of its location and the availability of a facility that can be brought into operation quickly following the installation of equipment.
“Mayo Clinic Laboratories is a world-renowned organization, and its decision to invest more than $30 million here speaks volumes about Mississippi’s momentum,” Gov. Tate Reeves said. “This project will create 234 new jobs in DeSoto County while further strengthening Mississippi’s healthcare and life sciences sectors. We’re proud to welcome Mayo Clinic Laboratories to our state and excited about the opportunities this investment will create for Mississippians.”
The Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive, or MFLEX, program. MDA also certified Mayo Clinic Laboratories for the Health Care Industry Zone Incentive.
The city of Southaven and DeSoto County are also assisting with the project.

Based in Rochester, Minnesota, Mayo Clinic Laboratories is a global reference laboratory that provides advanced diagnostic testing and laboratory services to clinicians, hospitals and health care systems around the world.
The company’s Southaven operations will add to the region’s growing health care and life sciences sector while providing new employment opportunities for area residents.

DeSoto County Board of Supervisors President Jessie Medlin said the project reflects the county’s efforts to prepare for continued economic growth.
