Gasifier manufacturer Janus Organization is locating its operations in Greenwood in a project representing nearly $2.1 million in corporate investment and expected to create 13 jobs.

Janus will establish manufacturing operations at the Greenwood-Leflore Industrial Park, where the company plans to manufacture gasifiers designed to treat specialty waste streams. The company expects to begin operations in mid-2027.

Janus gasifiers are used to treat specialty wastes, including medical, pharmaceutical and rubber tire feedstock. The technology uses high heat to break down waste at the molecular level, reducing waste volume while producing minimal emissions.

The Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive, or MFLEX, program. The city of Greenwood and Leflore County also are supporting the project.

“The Mississippi Momentum isn’t slowing down,” Gov. Tate Reeves said. “Our state continues to attract companies and private capital that are strengthening families and communities across Mississippi. Janus Organization’s decision to locate in Greenwood will bring a new manufacturing operation and new jobs to the Delta. I’m proud to welcome Janus to our state and look forward to its success in Leflore County.”

MDA Executive Director PJ Waldrop said Mississippi offers companies the workforce, available sites and business environment needed to establish new operations.

“Companies ready to invest need a location where they can move quickly from a decision to an operating facility,” Waldrop said. “Mississippi has the workforce, available sites and business environment to make that happen. MDA is proud to support Janus as the company gets to work in Greenwood and establishes its manufacturing operation in the Delta.”

Janus Organization Owner Lloyd Lipman said the company is looking forward to working with state and local officials as the project moves forward.

“We are anxious and excited to work with the state of Mississippi, MDA and local officials to complete this state of the art manufacturing facility for our industry,” Lipman said.

The project also represents an economic development opportunity for Greenwood and Leflore County, according to Thomas Gregory, executive director of the Greenwood-Leflore-Carroll Economic Development Foundation.

“Janus Organization’s decision to locate in the Greenwood-Leflore Industrial Park underscores that Greenwood has the sites, the infrastructure and the workforce to support the manufacturing of specialized equipment,” Gregory said. “On behalf of Greenwood and Leflore County, we welcome Janus to our community and look forward to partnering with them as they position their company for long-term success here.”

Once operational, the Janus facility will add specialized manufacturing capacity to the Greenwood area while bringing 13 new jobs to the community.
